About us

The Copper River Wild! Salmon Festival was created in its current form in the summer of 2006.  The purpose of the festival is to celebrate Copper River salmon and the lifestyle and culture salmon support in this remote Alaskan region.

Each year, a team of community partners gather on a regular basis to coordinate the line-up of events you see here.  Most proceeds from the festival go to support Cordova Arts, our local, all-volunteer run arts council.  This group of volunteers works hard to provide year-round art opportunities to our community.  Some highlights from 2009-2010 include: Jason & the Argonauts theater production, Circus Arts production and school workshops, Wearable Arts show, and art workshops at the Cordova Fungus Festival. Being off the road system in rural Alaska, such opportunities are oftentimes logistically challenging and expensive to provide.  Your contributions at Salmon Jam help offset these costs.

Thanks for your support of the arts in our community!
