Experience the energy and enthusiasm of our rustic fishing .ccommunity on the Prince William Sound (home to world famous wild Copper River salmon) through a wide variety of art, music, road races and educational events. The Copper River Wild! Festival aims to celebrate salmon and promote the health and sustainability of local salmon runs.

7:30 p.m. | Taste of Cordova, a Copper River Salmon cook-off and unveiling of new local products at the Reluctant Fisherman Inn. Proceeds to support Copper River WILD! Salmon Festival. Also featuring a performance by Moe Bowstern, publisher of Xtra Tuff zine, reading fisher poetry, and salmon life-cycle shadow puppet show.

of Fish & Game's Mobile Aquatic Education Classroom will also be open for visitors!

Center project and salmon filleting demonstration with Deb Eckley at the Ski Hill.

Prince William Sound Science Center. Beading with Patience Anderson Faulkner, and 
native ice cream making ("akutaq") with the Ilanka Cultural Center.
4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.   |  Local Arts and Crafts Festival and one more opportunity
to climb aboard the ADF&G truck.
5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  |  Square Dance - Cordova Music Camp, Ski Hill.

Despite our remote location, we’re easy to reach by either plane or ferry.
Alaska Airlines has a daily jet service to Cordova from Anchorage and Seattle (via
Juneau), and Era Aviation has service twice daily from Anchorage.

As a scenic alternative, you can travel by ferry on the Alaska Marine Highway System to Cordova from either Whittier, or Valdez, with or without your automobile, a great way to . view the spectacular scenery and wildlife in Prince William Sound.

Cordova has a great selection of accommodations, including hotels, motels, B&B’s and several camping grounds to suit your needs, budget and style of travel.

There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied during your visit to Cordova.From abundant hikes with amazing views, to berry filled trails for you to explore, there is something for everyone, regardless of your fitness level.

The Prince William Sound offers world class salmon and halibut fishing, sea kayaking and caneoing - all with amazing views of the spectacular scenery and wildlife. Surrounding glaciers are easily accessible and be viewed by road, foot, or aerial tours.

Cordova is well known for its Shorebird Festival each May (when the tidal flats of the Copper River Delta shimmer with the activity of hundreds of thousands of shorebirds on their epic spring migration), though bird watching can be enjoyed year round from the viewing platforms at Alagnaik Slough, or simply when you are out and about!

Perhaps one of the activities visitors most enjoy when traveling to Alaska, is wildlife viewing. Sea otters, seals, ermines, and other sea mammals are plentiful - and it's easy to glimpse a furry critter on the Delta, or in the Cordova Harbor in town.

While Cordova doesn't offer any typical indoor entertainment facilities (we don't have a movie theatre or a bowling alley), you will enjoy visiting the Ilanka Cultural Centre to view Eyak the Orca - a well preserved Killer Whale skeleton from the Prince William Sound whale pod. Other rainy day activities include visiting the Cordova Historical Museum - visitors find it interesting to see how the town looked prior to the earthquake in 1964.
